Items available for Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery

Any item from the circulating collection may be requested through Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery with the exclusion of equipment (i.e. DVD players, headphones, laptops, etc.).

Order Limits

There is currently no limit to the number of items which can be requested through Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery. Document Delivery will provide a maximum of 10 items per semester for free to any distance education student. For orders placed over this 10 item limit, the student will be charged $5.00 for each item.

Charges

There are currently no charges for Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery unless the patron exceeds the preset limit of 10 items.

Checkout Times

Items will be checked out to the patron before they are shipped. The length of the checkout time will depend on the item and the patron’s status. Please view the Circulation policy to determine the checkout length of an item. The patron is responsible for returning their item by the due date printed on the paper band attached to their item.

Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery Process

Items requested through Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery will be sent to the student through the postal service UPS. They will include a pre-paid return UPS mailing label. It is the responsibility of the student to return their item using this label by the due date specified. 

UPS does not deliver to Post Office addresses.  Patrons must supply a physical address.

Off-Campus Delivery Time

Orders will be processed within 48 hours from the receipt of order excluding weekends and University holidays. UPS mailings go out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. An email notification will be sent when the order is shipped.  

The standard delivery time for UPS shipments is 3 to 5 business days.  The student may opt to pay an additional charge for Rush delivery.

Recalled Items

Recalled books must be returned by the recall date.  Please see the Circulation policy for information about recalls.

Returning Eagle Express Off-Campus Delivery Items

It is the patron’s responsibility to return these items either by mail or otherwise before the due date. Please use the enclosed return shipment label when returning items.

International students

For questions concerning international shipments, please contact the Document Delivery department at ill@usm.edu.

Items not available in the Library Collection

If the item requested is not available in University Libraries' collection, the order will be cancelled.

Appeals

Appeals for books not received or books lost during shipment will be managed as are all other appeals, based on the individual patron’s history and the plausibility of their situation. Patrons wishing to appeal a fine may fill out the online Appeal Form.
